Hansen Reserve will be a key open space destination for the residents of West Footscray south of the rail line. The reserve will provide a high quality landscape in a wide open space setting, a variety of active and informal recreation, and park facilities in keeping with municipal reserve standards. It is envisaged to become a community hub of activity for all users.
Lara Architects prepared this tender proposal for the City of Maribyrnong. and in doing so we applied our thinking and philosophy of creating spaces that line up with the council´s aspirations and more.
The new pavilion project is the opportunity to create a welcoming landmark within the Hanson Reserve precinct. The overall revitalisation of the sporting facilities and the public spaces will encourage local community engagement.
The New Pavilion includes an upper level that provides panoramic views of the Hansen Reserve Precinct and across to Melbourne’s CBD.
An external surrounding experience at the upper level brings the action closer to the vantage views.
The feature roof and its skylight will be a visual marker that signals a welcoming and protected entry point. With its unique form, the new building will be a recognisable and memorable sports pavilion.
