The existing buildings protrude past the sinuous roof, highlighting the glorious peaks and the colourful vegetation of The Grampians in the distance. The canopy roof extends out to provide a sense of arrival and drawing the delighted visitor into the new hub.
The project uses locally-sourced materials and suppliers, emphasising its dramatic setting while building on local community support and engagement.
The council’s key goal is to attract bushwalkers, backpackers and travellers from all over the world to this wonderful oasis and thus stimulate the local economy.
The bountiful display of native flora and the inviting gateway structure will encourage short-term visitors to linger in town and potentially extend their stay.
